Eighth Stage of the Eight Limbs of Yoga – Samadhi
Samadhi is the end of the sadhaka’s quest. It is the ultimate goal of the Yogic Lifestyle – The Eight Limbs of Yoga. At the peak of meditation, the sadhaka passes into the state of Samadhi, where his body and senses are at rest as if asleep, but his faculties of mind and reason are fully alert as if awake, and yet he has gone beyond consciousness.
In Samadhi, there is no sense of “I” or “mine”. there is only the union with Divine Spirit and all that exists. This state can only be expressed by profound silence and a serene smile because the yogi has transcended the material World and entered the Eternal World. There exists no more duality between the knower and the known, between the observer and the observed.
