By now most of you who have been attending Serenity Yoga classes know how long you are kept holding the poses – LOOOOOOONGGGGGG…. And perhaps some of you are wondering how can it be called “Serenity Yoga” if it feels more like “suffering yoga” sometimes. Well if you are by now wondering how Serenity Yoga works, that’s great!
Because it is possible to find Serenity and Relaxation in Tension, in Difficulty.
So here’s an Inquiry, a question for you to allow now your unconscious mind to find the answer to. I say your unconscious mind will find the answer because this is not a question to answer with your conscious mind. The conscious mind is often too caught up in the pain, the suffering and ways to distract from the pain and suffering. And because the conscious mind always looks for ways to distract itself, it will often never find quality answers.
So the question is: “If it is not your muscles that will hold you in poses for a long time (because they will get tired rather quickly), then what is it that allows you to hold your body in poses for so long like you have been doing?”
